I graduated from the Selkirk Comp in 2015, and am currently in my 2nd year of university in hopes of being accepted into the school of nursing. In my spare time, I enjoy exercising and hanging out with my friends.
I have been working here at Selkirk Veterinary Services since 2009, and although I have a second job, this one will always be number one. My favourite part of coming to work is the people I work with. I have also learned an incredible amount of material, both scientific and work ethic-wise since I have been working at Selkirk Veterinary Services!

Sam

Registered Veterinary Technologist

I am a Registered Veterinary Technologist. I graduated from the Animal Health Technologist program in 2015 at Red River College and joined Selkirk Veterinary Services in July of the same year. I love being a vet technician, I enjoy working with all the patients that come through our door. I really like being a part of the team here at SVS; it's a great atmosphere.
For life at home, the fun doesn't end with animals; I live on a beef farm with sheep, goats, horses, chickens, my 3 dogs (Angel, Sporty and Jessie) and my four cats! I spend most of my time at home training my yearling Quarter horse, Misty, along with all the farm chores mixed in. It's never a dull moment between work and home but I wouldn't change it for the world!

Courtney

Client Service Representative

I joined SVS in February of 2013 after working at the Winnipeg Humane Society. I moved back to the country after living in the city for 4 years – pursuing my other passion: Music and promoting local bands.
My favourite part of my day is interacting with clients and their pets, customer service is incredibly important to me, I really enjoy helping clients find what they need for their pets. I revel in learning more about the products and services we offer. I really adore being apart of this great team here at Selkirk Veterinary Services where every day is interesting and always a new adventure.
At home I have a large assembly of animals, we raise sheep and goats and have a couple pet pigs and a flock of chickens, ducks and guinea fowl as well as Tyler my turkey Tom who runs the farm yard. We have been raising Alpacas since 2002 and in 2016 added horses to our farm. Our inside animals include my dogs Dixon, a Catahoula Leopard Dog from Oregon, Pepper, a mixed breed from the Winnipeg Humane Society, and Boo, my Chinese Crested Boston Terrier Mix from Saskatchewan, and my cats Crowley, Monday and Scarlet. We also have a couple of turtles and a betta fish named Estevan.
I my free time I enjoy taking the dogs out for runs in the fields and marsh behind our house with my niece and nephew. And travel to the farthest stretches of the continent in pursuit of my all-time favourite band Green Day!

Ashley

Assistant and Client Service Representative

I began working at Selkirk Veterinary Services in August 2016 as an Assistant and Client Service Representative, after moving onto a small horse farm in East Selkirk. I have many years of experience working in small animal and emergency practices. Along with my extensive veterinary experience, I have worked with polo horses across the U.S. and thoroughbred racehorses at Assiniboia Downs.
My favourite aspect of veterinary medicine is orthopedic surgery with emergency medicine being a very close second. I always jump at the opportunity to continue my education! I enjoy being a part of the team at Selkirk Veterinary Services. Every day is a learning opportunity and we all complement each other excellently!
I live on my farm (which is a constant work in progress) with my husband Brent. My two dogs Morgan and Kane, three cats: Pita, Gibson and Dublin, a pig: Reba and my wee mule: Seamus. I am very involved in show jumping, working towards competing at the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair 2018. In the coming year, I will be purchasing a jumper of my own to compete with, and attending school to become a paramedic.

Shawna

Registered Veterinary Technologist

I graduated the Animal Health Technology course in 2011. I have been working at Selkirk Veterinary Services for 5 years. I’ve always had a strong passion and admiration for all animals. I grew up on a hobby farm and had wide range of pets from chickens and pigs, to dogs and cats. I loved them all!! I always knew I wanted to work with animals. Currently I live with my two dogs named Maddie and Easton. They bring a joy and simplicity to life, and I couldn’t imagine my life without them.

Erika

Registered Veterinary Technologist

I graduated from the Animal Health Technology program in 2010 from Red River College. I'm one of the Registered Vet Technicians here at SVS. I've been with Selkirk Veterinary Services, since May of 2010. The surgical aspect of a vet medicine is what I enjoy the most; from monitoring patients under anesthetic to assisting in the surgery itself.

In my free time I like to go camping with my husband, kids and our dog Riley in the summer. We also have a cat named Mikey that can do tricks! Maintaining and caring for my vegetable and flower gardens are one of my favourite pastimes. Also making crafts such as jewellery and reading are some of the hobbies that keep me busy at home.

Taylor

Registered Veterinary Technologist

I graduated from the Animal Health Technology program in 2014 at Red River College. Prior to graduating from the tech course I volunteered at SVS for 6 years. Once I graduated college I joined the Selkirk Veterinary Service team as a veterinary technician in June 2014. I spent 2 years working as a Vet Tech in Brandon before moving back to Selkirk and joining the SVS team once again.
Outside of work my love of animals doesn't end. I have a cat named Arlo who I rescued while living in Brandon, and a pug cross named Loki. My husband and I are looking forward to owning horses of our own one day. Along with my love of animals I enjoy art and crafts, camping and music. But most of all I love spending time with my cat Arlo.

I joined Selkirk Veterinary Services in July 2017. I grew up in Transcona and moved to St. Andrews two years ago. I have always loved animals, but decided I wanted to pursue a career in the veterinary field when I rescued my dog Sierra from a northern community in 2014. I will be attending Red River College's Animal Health Technologist program in the fall of 2018. I enjoy fostering dogs and cats for SVS and Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue. My favorite part of my job is helping the animals that come into the clinic and interacting with their owners. My favorite pastimes are shopping, spending time with family, and of course spending time with Sierra and Honey, my two dogs!
